Patel provides three great strategies for using social media to improve your SEO:
- Increase Social Shares: Even though it’s not the strongest signal in the world, Google and Bing do take social signals (e.g. “likes” and “tweets”) into consideration when determining which websites to place at the top of the list for a given search keyword. Make sure your users have easy access to share your content. It can’t hurt!
- Grow Your Audience to Build Authority: The Internet is all about authority. And this strategy is all about building that authority. It’s not easy work. You build authority by being active on several social media sites and linking all that authority back to your website.
- Engage with Authority Users: A great way to get some “social klout” is to get on the radar of people who have already reached the magical “authoritative” position in your industry. Social media makes it easier to interact with the hot shots in your niche. Just make sure to build a relationship before you start asking for favors. Be helpful first, then ask for help.
I must confess, mobile has always been a bit of a stressful topic for me. Maybe because I was a latecomer to the mobile scene, or maybe because I just don’t get into all the apps and other features of the smartphones. (In fact, I currently have a “dumb” smartphone – having access to the Internet at all times just became too addicting.)
However, as we all know, mobile is huge – and growing. Lots of people use cell phones and smartphones, a lot.
In this post from the Milkmen Blog, Cody Baird explains through a wonderful series of illustrations why mobile matters for small business.
I will not deprive you of the beauty of this post by summarizing it here. Just read it!
