Google+ for Business

Google+ is open for business(es). A little too late, in Slate’s opinion, but we’re giving it a shot. What does this mean? You can now add a page for your business (like on Facebook) and post to your followers. Creating a Google+ page is really easy to do. Simply find and click the “Create a Google+ page” link in the right sidebar:

Create a Google+ page

First, you have to pick a category for your page:

  • Local Business or Place
  • Product or Brand
  • Company, Institution, or Organization
  • Arts, Entertainment or Sports
  • Other

Then it’s just a matter of adding a page name and your website (optional), an image and your tagline. Once your page is set up, you can add additional information. We’re just getting started with our Google+ page. Feel free to follow us!

Twitter Adds Activity Panel

It’s going to be all about Social Media here at Gnome Likes today. This article from alerted us that Twitter added an “Activity Panel” this week:

Twitter Activity Tab

The Activity panel shows when your connections mark favorites or follow other twitter users. It’s not a huge change, but worth noting as it may encourage increased activity.

The Growth of Social Media

We found this beautiful infographic on the growth of social media via The numbers are staggering!

Our favorite statistic:

If Facebook were a country, it would be the world’s 3rd largest country (after China and India) and 2x the size of the US population.

Social media is alive and well. Make sure you’re leveraging this channel by implementing a solid social media strategy.
